SILK ROAD - ISFAHAN

SUDI DARGIPOUR

Sudi was inspired by the dome at the Shah Mosque, Isfahan, which was built around 400 years ago during the Safavid era. The Shah Mosque is a famous place in the history of the Silk Road.

The city of Isfahan is famous for its blue tiles and its Islamic architecture. In the rug, Sudi uses the famous Persian blue and gold. In Persian culture, Persian blue is used in many art forms to convey a sense of peace. The  colour of gold is also heavily associated with Isfahan and has been used in Persian textiles, rugs and ceramics for many centuries.

Silk Road - Isfahan forms part of Sudi’s Silk Road collection. This collection highlights cities along the Silk Road, from China’s western gate to Istanbul, through colour and texture.
