IKARANGI
11,500.00 incl GST
Ikarangi is inspired by Paterson’s deep connection to Christchurch and his Māori heritage. The rug reflects Christchurch’s Riccarton House as a landscape. The highly contrasted burn-back reveals what lies beneath through the performative action of shining and scraping back the black and white areas. This is an ancient technique which traditionally allowed for the pure gold threads contained within the weave to stand tall. In the place of gold, the trademarked lurex and viscose thread shines through within the bright relief of red poppies, that hover, suspended, over the land as Magellanic clouds.

HOW KNOTTED WORKS
Collaboration
We work with artists who have an exceptional way of combining aesthetic goals with intriguing design, to create luxurious handmade rugs.
Creativity
Our designs are not simply the conversion of paintings, prints or other works into carpets, but a rethinking of ideas to the possibilities of textured items primarily designed for horizontal floor surfaces.
Limited Edition
These creative ideas do not follow fleeting trends, and will never be mass produced. The result of these collaborations are timeless and exclusive.
